About Me

Hello again! I moved to Austin in 2019, but I have made the most of my time here so far. I became a chairwoman of the Young Woman’s Alliance (YWA), volunteered as a Social & Community Coordinator for Austin Design Week (ADW), and became an avid Austin adventurer. I enjoy doing new and interesting things. Whenever I go out, I try to explore what the city has to offer, whether that be a newly opened restaurant or a quirky pop-up event that you can only find in Austin. When I am not out seeing the sights, I am breaking a sweat kickboxing, and learning to speak French - c'est tres amusant! And just because I like to keep busy does not mean I do not know how to relax; reading the next book on my list, cuddling with my three puppies, and catching up on the next binge-worthy series with my husband are some of the things I do to unwind. It may seem like I am always moving, but I also love to connect with new people. So, feel free to contact me, and we can talk more.

Why UX Design?

User Experience Design is the perfect combination of the aspects of life that I enjoy most. I am fascinated by people and how they think. UX Research grants me opportunities to empathize with and relate to people on a deeper level. At my core, I am a detail-oriented person who thrives on structure. Information Architecture and Interaction Design allow me to utilize those skills by thinking through "how is my user going to use this and find what they need?". Lastly, I am creative. I love color theory and design. On my own time, I like to draw, paint, and create various crafts. UI Design provides that creative side an outlet in a professional setting. Ultimately, I want to have a part in creating products that people enjoy and make their lives easier.

How I got started in UX Design

I wish I could say that I discovered UX Design on my own, but I did not. It was June 2020, and I had just been laid off from my job due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. I was talking with acquaintances and asking what everyone did for work. One person mentioned she was a UX Designer. I had never heard of it before and asked her to explain. After she told me what she did in her day to day, all I could think was "this is what I am meant to do". I started researching UX Bootcamps the next day. I decided to enroll in the University of Texas at Austin UX/UI Bootcamp beginning in July 2020. With each class, I felt more and more that I had found my calling. I am so glad that I took that leap and made a career change.

Community Involvement

The Young Women's Alliance

The Young Women's Alliance (YWA) is a non-profit in Austin whose goal is to build a community that supports, empowers, and connects women. I joined YWA in April 2021 because I was looking to make connections with like-minded women and get involved with the community. Shortly after joining, I applied and became the New Member Chair. As New Member Chair, I am responsible for welcoming new members, introducing them to YWA, and ensuring a smooth transition from new to active member status. I use my User Experience Design skills every day to make sure joining YWA is effortless and enjoyable.

Austin Design Week

Austin Design Week (ADW) is a week-long local event put on every year in the fall. ADW invites designers, organizations, agencies, and companies to host free workshops, studio tours, panels, talks, installations, and interactive events centered around a theme that challenges people to consider the role of design in improving our communities and ourselves. I joined the team in July 2021 as Social & Community Coordinator. This role granted me the opportunity to get involved in the Austin Design Community, and to meet incredibly talented local designers.
